82nd National Garment Fair Opened In Mumbai, Showcased 1000+ Brands

The 82nd National Garment Fair (NGF), India’s largest apparel trade fair organised by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), was inaugurated by Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Goregaon East, Mumbai. The three-day fair was held from January 20 to 22, 2026.
Recognised as a key B2B platform for the apparel industry, NGF brought together manufacturers, retailers, designers, and fashion professionals to explore Spring–Summer collections and business opportunities. The event expected participation from over 20,000 retailers across India and featured more than 1,000 brands.
Ashish Kewalramani of Ashish NX, Nagpur and Ganesh Narayan Beria of Nagarmal Sheonarain & Sons, Arrah, Bihar, served as Guests of Honour. Senior CMAI representatives including Santosh Katariya, President; Rahul Mehta, Chief Mentor; Rohit Munjal, Vice President and Chairman of the Fair Committee, along with other office bearers were present.

In his address, Rohit Kansal said, “If an event has stayed on for decades, it must be adding value to all its participants, the textiles ecosystem in India is a US$ 176 billion ecosystem, and US$ 140 billion of it is contributed by the domestic sector.” He noted that domestic textile consumption had been growing at 7-8% annually and was expected to rise further as India transitioned towards Viksit Bharat, driven by increasing disposable incomes and discretionary spending.
The 82nd edition of NGF was the largest so far, spread across 7 lakh sq. ft. with 1,070 stalls and over 1085 brands covering men’s, women’s and kidswear. Upgraded infrastructure, seamless registrations and a newly introduced stall locator enhanced the visitor experience.
Reflecting on industry performance, CMAI President Santosh Katariya said, “As India’s apparel industry entered 2026, it continued to demonstrate resilience and steady growth, supported by strong domestic demand and a growing preference for quality-led apparel.”

Commenting on the fair, Rohit Munjal stated that NGF remained a flagship platform enabling meaningful B2B connections and national market expansion for apparel brands. Chief Mentor Rahul Mehta added that India’s apparel market witnessed steady growth driven by urban consumption, premiumisation and Gen Z preferences, making innovation and scalability essential.
Acknowledged as the largest biannual apparel trade fair in India, NGF continued to strengthen its position as a key sourcing destination and networking hub for the domestic market. With the apparel sector projected to grow at 10.5% in FY26, NGF played a pivotal role in supporting collaboration, supply chain efficiency, and long-term industry growth.
