Uzbekistan Aims To Increase Textile Exports To India
Uzbekistan is looking to enhance its textile exports, particularly in knitwear, to the Indian market. Ambassador Sardor Rustamboyev met with Pabitra Margherita, the Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles of India, to discuss strategies for expanding this trade.
The meeting was part of the preparations for Bharat Tex, a significant international exhibition set to be held in India in February 2025. During the talks, Rustamboyev emphasized Uzbekistan’s recent reforms in the textile and light industry, showcasing the implementation of modern manufacturing technologies aimed at producing competitive, high-value products for the global market.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the textile sector and increasing the availability of Uzbek knitwear and other products in India. Additionally, the parties reviewed plans for Uzbekistan’s active involvement in Bharat Tex 2025, which will include a dedicated presentation of the country’s textile and light industry capabilities and efforts to facilitate negotiations between business leaders from both nations.
