Dr Andrew Jordan Honoured In 2024 Cotton Hall Of Fame

Dr Andrew Jordan, a prominent figure in the cotton industry, has been named the 2024 Honouree for the Cotton Research and Promotion Hall of Fame. The eleventh annual recognition programme celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the cotton sector.

Dr Jordan was formally inducted during the joint Cotton Incorporated/Cotton Board Annual Meeting on December 10 in San Diego, California. The Cotton Research and Promotion Programme, established in 1966, aims to boost demand for upland cotton and enhance profitability for cotton growers and importers.

“Dr Andrew Jordan’s contributions to the cotton industry have been transformative,” said William Kimbrell, President and CEO of Cotton Inc. “His dedication to sustainable cotton production has set new industry benchmarks and we are honoured to recognize his remarkable achievements.”

Based in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr Jordan is celebrated for his leadership in agricultural sustainability and environmental stewardship. With over 30 years of experience, he has been a driving force in promoting sustainable farming practices that benefit producers and the environment alike.

Dr Jordan began his career at the National Cotton Council (NCC) in 1976 after earning an agricultural engineering degree from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Clemson University. At the NCC, he served as Vice President, Technical Services, and as Executive Director of The Cotton Foundation, where he directed programme development and private sector fundraising efforts.

As a consultant to Cotton Incorporated, Dr Jordan has advanced innovative farming practices, ensuring both sustainability and economic viability for cotton growers.

Currently, he serves as Senior Scientist for the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, providing guidance on research, policy and sustainability. He also holds roles as Executive Director of the Cotton Growers Warehouse Association, Advisor to AgLaunch, Science Director for Secure Food Solutions, and dDirector for Agricenter International in Cordova, Tennessee.
