Teijin Aramid Names Taiichi Machida As New CEO

Teijin Aramid announced a leadership transition as Peter ter Horst will step down as Chief Executive Officer at the end of 2025, following a 19-year career with the company. Effective October 1, 2025, Taiichi Machida will assume the role of CEO. Peter will remain with the company until December to ensure a smooth handover.
During his 5.5 years as CEO, Peter ter Horst steered Teijin Aramid through defining challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, a major fire at the Delfzijl site, and the company’s ongoing organizational transformation to enhance resilience. His leadership has been characterized by a strong focus on people, values and long-term vision.
Reflecting on his tenure, Peter ter Horst said, “It has been an incredible journey. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, especially in the face of adversity. Teijin Aramid is entering a new phase, and I’m confident that Taiichi Machida will bring the right energy and strategic insight to lead the company forward.”
Machida brings extensive international and strategic expertise to his new role. With a background across various divisions at Teijin Ltd., including leadership in the Healthcare Business Unit, he most recently served as General Manager of the Corporate Strategy Department, shaping the group’s global direction.
