The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) organized an exclusive AI Masterclass, “Traditional Business Se AI-Powered Business Tak”, bringing together more than 600 apparel manufacturers, retailers, brand owners and industry professionals to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in business operations.

Held on June 3 at Yogi Sabhagruh, Dadar, Mumbai, the session was led by AI evangelist Dr. CA Umang Ratani, who provided practical insights into the application of AI across marketing, sales, customer engagement, business automation, decision-making and productivity enhancement. Through live demonstrations and real-world case studies, participants gained a hands-on understanding of how AI can be integrated into traditional business models to drive efficiency and growth.

Addressing the gathering, CMAI President Santosh Katariya highlighted the association’s commitment to equipping the apparel industry with the skills and technological capabilities required to remain competitive in an increasingly digital business environment.

“CMAI is committed to equipping the apparel industry with the knowledge, skills and technological capabilities required to remain competitive and relevant in an increasingly digital world. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to promote innovation, business excellence and future-readiness among our members,” he said.

Katariya also announced the launch of an exclusive Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for CMAI primary members, offering coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh. The initiative aims to enhance member benefits without any additional cost.

During the session, Dr. Ratani emphasized that AI is no longer limited to large enterprises and is increasingly becoming an accessible tool for businesses of all sizes. He noted that organisations adopting AI-driven solutions today will be better positioned to improve operational efficiency, strengthen competitiveness and unlock new growth opportunities.

Nirav Sanghvi, Chairman of CMAI’s Membership & Growth Committee, said the session provided valuable insights into the practical applications of AI and helped industry stakeholders better understand its transformative potential.

The interactive masterclass also addressed common concerns surrounding AI adoption and offered participants a roadmap for beginning their digital transformation journey. The strong turnout reflected growing interest within the apparel industry in leveraging emerging technologies to enhance business performance.

On the occasion, CMAI also launched CMAI Connect, its new mobile application designed to provide members with easy access to industry information, event registrations, networking opportunities, policy updates and exclusive member services. Available on both iOS and Android platforms, the app aims to serve as a comprehensive digital platform connecting members with CMAI and the wider apparel industry ecosystem.

Through initiatives such as the AI Masterclass and CMAI Connect, the association continues to support the industry’s transition towards innovation-led, technology-enabled growth.
