Rieter’s Nine-Month Orders Rise 70.1%; Full-Year Outlook Revised

Rieter reported a 70.1% increase in order intake to CHF 951.4 million for the first nine months of 2026, primarily driven by the first-time consolidation of its Man-Made Fiber Division following the Barmag acquisition. On an organic basis, order intake declined 10.5%.

Sales rose 96.3% to CHF 898.6 million, compared with CHF 457.7 million a year earlier. Organic sales, however, declined 2.1%, reflecting continued challenges in several markets. Rieter completed the Barmag acquisition on February 2, 2026, with the Man-Made Fiber Division contributing eight months of results.

Third-quarter order intake stood at CHF 397.3 million, while sales reached CHF 321.9 million. The group’s order backlog was approximately CHF 850 million as of September 30, 2026, compared with CHF 590 million a year earlier, including the newly consolidated division.

China and India showed comparatively stronger investment activity, while Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the Americas showed no sustained recovery.

Sales in China increased 279.3% to CHF 558.7 million, supported by the acquisition, with organic growth of 50.6%. India recorded sales of CHF 172.2 million, up 68.3%, including organic growth of 4.8%. In contrast, sales in EMEA declined 9.3% to CHF 107.9 million, while the Americas recorded a 32.9% decline to CHF 59.8 million. Organic declines in these regions were 36.4% and 51.1%, respectively.

By division, Short-Staple Fiber recorded order intake of CHF 335.8 million, down 19.4%, and sales of CHF 301.6 million, down 0.5%. On an organic basis, orders declined 15.6%, while sales increased 2.7%.

Components & Technology reported a 2.7% increase in order intake to CHF 146.5 million, although sales fell 12.9% to CHF 134.7 million. The Man-Made Fiber Division contributed CHF 469.1 million in orders and CHF 462.3 million in sales.

Rieter continued implementing restructuring and production footprint measures across its divisions. These include the planned relocation of parts of winding machine production from Germany to China, further adjustments to production and cost structures, and European site closures within Components & Technology. Measures to realign the Man-Made Fiber Division’s Remscheid and Neumünster sites in Germany were announced in October.

For the full year, Rieter now expects sales at the lower end of its previously announced CHF 1.3–1.5 billion range. Continued margin pressure and a slower-than-expected recovery in EMEA and the Americas have prompted the group to revise its operational EBIT margin outlook to between minus 2% and zero.
