Brazilian Cotton To Be Promoted In India & Other Countries
Following the success of visits to Indonesia and Bangladesh to promote Brazilian cotton, the Brazilian Cotton Growers Association (Abrapa) is now planning such visits to more countries.
More such visits are on the agenda aimed at promoting Brazilian cotton around the world, which include India, Thailand, China, Turkey, Egypt, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, the EU and the US.
Bringing Brazilian cotton farmers and importers from the global textile industry closer together is one of the main focus of Cotton Brazil, which represents the Brazilian cotton production chain on a global scale.
Abrapa is organising these visits in partnership with the National Cotton Shippers Association (Anea) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex Brasil).
According to Miguel Faus, President of Anea, the outcomes of visits to Bangladesh and Indonesia were highly encouraging
“In addition to technical and business meetings, visits to Indonesia and Bangladesh also included holding ‘Cotton Brazil Outlook’ seminars in capitals of both countries,” Cotton Brazil said.
“In the seminars in both countries, our initial attendee target exceeded and the participants were highly qualified, bringing together important decision makers,” Miguel Faus added.
Brazil currently accounts for 16 percent of all Bangladeshi cotton imports and the visit is expected to increase share to between 20-25 percent.
Since 2019, Brazil has retained its position as the second largest cotton exporter in the world and for the 2023-24 cotton marketing year, the country is forecast to export 2.34 million tons of cotton.
