Bangla Apparel Sector Shining Example Of Workplace Safety

President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan said the apparel industry in Bangladesh is a shining example of workplace safety in the world.

Faruque Hassan was speaking at opening ceremony of the 9th International Fire Safety and Security Expo, where he added that workplace safety within garment sector is serving as a model for others to follow.

He also stated that the Bangladesh clothing sector has also emerged as a leader in environmental sustainability.

Bangladesh now has the highest number of green garment factories globally, with 207 factories certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

Hassan also highlighted the need for investing in safety equipment manufacturing within the country to make safety equipment easily available at competitive prices.

He also urged other industrial sectors to prioritise workplace safety and create a secure working environment for all.
