Cambodia Leads Charge In US Apparel Imports In Jan-Feb Period
Cambodia led the charge with US garment imports from the SE Asian country increasing 15.34 percent year on year to $545.20 million in the January to February period of 2024.
Overall US apparel imports in the first two months of the ongoing year declined 7.78 percent from a year ago period to US $12.18 billion.
“However, US clothing imports from China and Vietnam grew slower at 0.48 percent and 0.14 percent year over year, respectively,” data released by the US Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) informed.
Among countries from where imports dropped in the reporting period include Bangladesh, where they fell 19.24 percent to $1.18 billion, while those from Indonesia were down 17.2 percent to $660.35 million.
In the first two months of 2024, imports of clothing from India decreased slower at $759.48 million, falling by 13.75 percent compared to same period of 2023.
