‘Chinese Investment Growth Driver Of Ethiopian Textile Sector’

Investment from Chinese investors is the backbone and driving growth and development of Ethiopian textile and garment industry.

This was stated by Aklilu Tadesse, CEO of the Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC).

He said this during discussions between IPDC officials and the Ethiopian Investment Commission with potential Chinese investors who are interested in investing in the Ethiopian textile and apparel sector.

Tadesse added that investments in the textile and clothing industry are a major catalyst for overall economic growth and development of the country.

“The industry has been able to create direct and indirect employment to lakhs of Ethiopians,” the IPDC CEO observed

Tadesse urged the potential Chinese investors to mull over investing in Ethiopia’s textile and garment industry and offered full support and commitment from the government.

According to Tadesse, the Ethiopian government offers significant incentives related to export and tax relief making the country an attractive investment destination.
