DBS Lifestyle Studio: A Global Design Mindset Rooted In India

DBS Lifestyle Studio, co-founded by husband-wife duo Bhawnish Suri, Founder & Managing Director and Divya Suri, Founder & Joint Managing Director, has steadily built a reputation as a global design studio delivering original textile and fashion design concepts to international brands and retailers. Speaking exclusively with Textile Insights, Divya Suri shed light on the company’s journey, business model, design capabilities and the market response at Heimtextil Frankfurt 2026.
Sharing the story behind DBS Lifestyle Studio, Divya explained that the journey began after she and her husband returned to India from the United States, where they lived and worked for nearly seven years. “We came back with exposure and at that point we felt design was the need,” she said. The founders started with print and textile design, which is still the company’s core strength today, before diversifying into fashion design, sampling and finally full product delivery. “Over the past 20 years, it’s grown organically. We never marketed ourselves, it has always been word of mouth,” she added, reflecting on the firm’s evolution.
Today, DBS Lifestyle Studio operates across multiple continents, selling original prints, jacquards, embroideries and woven designs to global clients. At Heimtextil Frankfurt, the company represented the design arm of its business, showcasing newly developed pattern work and colour stories to buyers from multiple geographies. “All our designs are originally created prints, jacquards, woven designs. We have customers from the US, Europe, China and Japan, brands and retailers buy directly from us,” Divya stated.
Reflecting on the business climate at Heimtextil 2026, Divya admitted that the team arrived with cautious expectations. “We were a bit skeptical because of the geopolitical scenarios everywhere,” she said, referencing travel concerns and trade uncertainty. However, the actual outcome was far more encouraging. “Quite frankly, the response has been overwhelming,” she stated. DBS saw footfall and inquiries from the US, Europe, China and the Middle East. “In spite of geopolitical unrest and tariffs, the business inquiries were fabulous. That was very surprising,” she added.
Divya believes this resilience is partly driven by diversification strategies across the global supply chain. “People have learned to adapt. Nobody wants to depend on one country for sourcing or one area for design,” she observed. According to her, Heimtextil remains an unmatched platform because “this is the place where you come looking for designs, retailers and brands already know this. It becomes like the beginning of the annual year for everyone to exchange ideas and see what’s new.”
This timing also influences buyer behaviour. “Customers come to us before the show to see the best and then they come towards the end once their clients have gone, to purchase more based on what has been responded to,” Divya explained.
When asked about colour or material trends shaping the current season, Divya stated that there is no single dominant direction in home textiles right now. “People are always looking for new and fresh ideas, but you can’t pinpoint a particular trend. Everyone wants to play safe, brands want to buy more into their existing look rather than experiment,” she said.
Despite trade headwinds from tariffs and logistics, Divya described the global home textile market as stable and opportunity-driven. “The market’s been very promising. Of course, tariffs may affect where clients buy from, but overall the business is moving,” she said, noting that DBS continues to serve customers across continents.
As DBS Lifestyle Studio moves forward, its founders remain committed to original design, organic growth and global engagement, values that have shaped the company since inception and continue to define its presence at international platforms such as Heimtextil.
