Government Approves Grants For 4 Start-Ups In Technical Textiles Sector
To advance the technical textiles sector, the Government has approved grants for four start-ups and five educational institutions. This decision was made during the 8th Empowered Programme Committee (EPC) meeting of the National Technical Textiles Mission, chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles at Udyog Bhawan.
Under the ‘Grant for Research & Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT)’ scheme, four innovative start-ups have been selected to receive grants of approximately Rs 50 lakhs each. These start-ups are focusing on strategic areas such as Composites, Sustainable Textiles, and Smart Textiles.
Additionally, the committee has sanctioned a grant of around Rs 20 crore to five educational institutes, including several NITs, to launch new courses in technical textiles. These courses will cover specialized fields such as Geotextiles, Geosynthetics, Composites, and applications in Civil Structures, aiming to build expertise and advance knowledge in this growing sector.
