Messe Frankfurt Achieves Record Sales Of €780 Million In 2024

Messe Frankfurt has reported its highest-ever group sales of €780 million for the financial year 2024, marking a 28% increase from €609 million in 2023. This significant growth underscores the company’s robust performance in its trade fair business and global operations.
The group’s operating profit has surged to over €50 million (2023: €18.5 million), providing a strong foundation for future investments in digitalisation, sustainability and employee development. Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, highlighted the success and stated, “2024 has been a landmark year for Messe Frankfurt, driven by flagship events and high global activity. Our consolidated sales in Germany alone reached €442 million, nearly matching the combined domestic and international sales of other German trade fair companies.”
The company hosted over 330 events worldwide, attracting 98,000 companies and approximately 4.4 million visitors. International participation was particularly noteworthy, with 83% of exhibitors and 57% of trade buyers at Frankfurt-based events coming from outside Germany.
Messe Frankfurt is committed to its core business while strategically expanding into digital and sustainable practices. “Digitalisation and sustainability are complex yet vital topics for our continued growth,” noted Marzin. The company has also completed its second EMAS environmental status report and is actively tracking CO2 emissions at its Frankfurt base, aligning with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements for 2025.
The group continues its geo-diversification strategy, launching new events in Central Asia and the ASEAN region, while expanding its presence in the US market with a focus on textiles, mobility, logistics and technology sectors.
Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board, emphasized the importance of face-to-face interactions in fostering business relationships:

With bookings already secured for 150 events in 2025, Messe Frankfurt aims to further its growth trajectory and achieve group sales of around €800 million. The company’s strategy includes enhancing its flagship events, expanding its guest event portfolio and strengthening its global reach.
