Messe Frankfurt Estimates 2023 Sales Touching €600 million

International trade fair organiser Messe Frankfurt expects current year sales to touch €600 million, if everything continues in positive vein.

“We expect another positive operating earnings performance in 2023. And we will be on track for an estimated €600 million in sales,” Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO at Messe Frankfurt said.

“Financial year 2023 is well above our expectations. This means that Messe Frankfurt is well and truly back in the premier league of international trade fair companies,” he added.

Around 340 events are being held under the Messe Frankfurt umbrella in 2023 and the first six months of 2023 were very dynamic, which is the main reason for Messe Frankfurt’s optimism for the full year.

The fair organiser said the Group is able to operate at full force largely thanks to the decision by top management not to lay off any staff during the three-year crisis period.

“With investments in its core business and digital transformation and a strong focus on sustainability, Messe Frankfurt is continuing to optimise its long-term corporate strategy,” Messe Frankfurt said.

Meanwhile, sales revenue almost tripled year-on-year to €454.2 million in 2022, even though the event year was still subject to pandemic restrictions.

Of this, €314 million was generated in Germany, accounting for 69 percent of sales revenue for the Group, while EBITDA turned positive at €40.6 million in 2022 against a negative EBITDA of €-74.9 million in 2021

Messe Frankfurt has also been able to reduce consolidated net loss, which stands at €25.7 million in 2022 as against a loss of €139.2 million in 2021.
