‘Our Loyal Customers Recognize Our Superior Quality And Technology’, Says Tae-Kyoon Kwon of Semyung

At ITM 2024, A.T.E. Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. with its principle Semyung Electric Machinery, a leading manufacturer of forged beams for warp knitting, shared insights into their longstanding collaboration and the superior quality of Semyung’s products. In an exclusive chat with Navin Agrawal, Senior Vice President of A.T.E. Enterprises, and Tae-Kyoon Kwon, Director at Semyung Electric Machinery.

Navin Agrawal highlighted the consistent performance and reliability of Semyung beams, which have been a staple for Indian knitters for over a decade. “Semyung beams we supply have been running without a single problem for the last 10-15 years. Our biggest customer, Bhilosa Industries, has purchased more than 5,000 beams from us,” he noted.

Agrawal emphasized the preference of key knitters in Surat and across India for Semyung beams, despite competition from Chinese manufacturers, due to their unmatched quality and consistency.

Tae-Kyoon Kwon provided a historical perspective on Semyung’s expertise in the beam business. “We have been doing this business for over 60 years, and for beams, almost 40 years. We created a lot of customers worldwide, especially in Europe, Turkey and India,” he shared. Kwon acknowledged the rising competition from Chinese beams but remained confident in Semyung’s superior technology and quality. “Even though we are going through hardship, we believe in ourselves to maintain this business. We will make it better and go through this hardship.”

The strong relationship between Semyung and A.T.E. Enterprises has been a key factor in their success in the Indian market. “A.T.E. Group has helped us a lot over almost 20 years. They are one of our really important business partners in India,” Kwon said. He expressed optimism about overcoming current challenges and continuing to dominate the market. “We are really amped up to fight in the Indian market and win over Chinese beams. We will never lose.”

A.T.E. Enterprises and Semyung boast a 100% market share for technical textiles, particularly for geogrids. “For technical textiles, high-tensile yarn, you cannot take a risk on winding them on beams that may burst. Our key customers like Strata, Skaps, and Techfab India go only with us,” Agrawal explained. This legacy highlights the trust and reliability that Semyung beams have established in India.

Reflecting on ITM 2024, Kwon noted a drop in visitor traffic compared to previous years. “We came to this ITM exhibition two years ago, and it was crowded. But right now, not a lot of customers,” he observed. However, he remained positive about the engagement with loyal customers. “We still have a few loyal customers who have been using our beams for over 20 years. They recognize our qualities and technologies.”

A.T.E. Enterprises and Semyung Electric Machinery continue to lead the warp knitting industry with their high-quality forged beams. Despite market challenges and increasing competition, their unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation ensures they remain the preferred choice for customers in India and beyond. “I can promise all the customers 100% best quality,” Kwon affirmed, highlighting the enduring legacy of Semyung’s beams.
