Quality Control Order On Polyester Yarn Deferred Till Oct 5

The government of India has announced extension of implementation of Quality Control Order (QCO) on 100 percent polyester spun grey and white yarn till October 5, 2023.

Earlier, the deadline was extended till June 30, 2023, but the government did not issue any notification to extend it further, due to which it became effective from July 01, 2023.

While polyester yarn spinners were demanding implementation of the QCO, the weaving industry of Surat was demanding extension, citing loopholes and anomalies in the QCO.

The Surat weaving industry which is the biggest consumer of polyester in India was of the opinion that guidelines in the QCO should be aligned with international norms.
