Rajasthan Garment Sector Seeks ODOP Category Benefits

At a roadshow to promote Bharat Tex 2024 in Jaipur, garment manufacturers of the state urged the state government to recognise their sector in the one-district-one-product (ODOP) category.

The Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR) requested the state government to extend benefits of the ODOP to the state clothing industry as done by Uttar Pradesh and other states.

Under the ODOP scheme, states provide 75 percent subsidy or up Rs 50,000 for companies taking part in exhibition in their own state and Rs 1.5-2 lakh for participating in national and international events.

“States also reimburse 75 percent of transport charges of goods and travelling expenses of the exhibitor to encourage them to take part in various exhibitions,” ToI reported.

“We request the Rajasthan government to include the garment sector in ODOP so that we also get a level-playing field to compete with manufacturers of other states,” GEAR President Zakir Hussain said.

Over 200 apparel manufacturers from Rajasthan are planning to participate in Bharat Tex 2024, which is going to be the biggest textile exhibition in the world.
