Rieter’s Digital Offering Connects Dots In Spinning Mill

At ITMA 2023, Rieter launched ESSENTIALoptimize, the latest module of its digital spinning suite ESSENTIAL, an important step towards reaching the vision of a fully digitised spinning mill and which also helps connect dots in a spinning mill.

ESSENTIAL is a modular system designed to gradually digitise the spinning mill, consisting of ESSENTIALbasic, ESSENTIALmonitor, ESSENTIALmaintain and has now introduced ESSENTIALoptimize. Each module features a series of solutions covering all customer needs, leveraging digital technology for value creation.

“ESSENTIAL Rieter Digital Spinning Suite helps customers to fully digitise their spinning mills, giving them an advantage in fiercely competitive markets. Named after its purpose, it is essential for our customers to stay ahead and remain front runners,” Nitin Patil, Head Product (Unit-Digital) at Rieter told Textile Insights in an exclusive interview.

“ESSENTIAL analyses data of the entire spinning mill in real-time and provides meaningful key performance indicators. With comprehensive and clearly arranged digital analysis, the system supports management in strengthening the expertise of mill staff, eliminating inefficiencies and optimising processes across the entire system,” Patil added.

He further highlighted that a holistic view from bale to yarn is the key to process optimisation and ESSENTIALoptimize connects the dots in the entire spinning mill. By providing a comprehensive picture of process deviations like quality faults, the system makes it possible to link machine performance and events.

“This opens completely new possibilities and revolutionises process optimisation in the spinning mill and each user, from operator to mill owner, has a customised overview of the relevant information needed for their daily tasks,” he stated.

“Responding to challenges fast and minimising expensive downtime requires getting the right information to the right people at the right time. With near real-time data streams of spinning mills, ESSENTIAL provides key performance indicators and improvement suggestions on efficiency, production, energy, and quality data,” he informed.

With the integration of the winding machine Autoconer X6 in its portfolio, Rieter now offers a complete ring spinning and compact-spinning system. Customers with a Rieter ring spinning system that includes the Autoconer X6, benefit from high levels of efficiency, quality and flexibility.

Another important innovation is the Ring-Winder-Connect module. This module continuously optimises the process between the ring spinning machine G 38 and the winding machine Autoconer X6. This module compares and analyses data from both machines.

“ESSENTIALoptimize supplies this data in the context of other performance metrics, while Ring-Winder-Connect saves valuable material and keeps yarn quality within defined parameters,” Patil explained.

Rieter also offers a mill overview with the RIETER ESSENTIAL APP which provides a ‘Big Boss View’, helping top management to monitor the performance of the mill 24×7, on mobile phones from anywhere in the world at any time.

“We are building out ESSENTIAL with the help of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis to create an intelligent system that will further optimise spinning mill efficiency. Our customers have confirmed that using the ESSENTIAL system has helped them improve their efficiency by up to 1.5 percent,” he concluded.
