Spinnova Partners Terafil For New Yarn Development
Finland based producer of natural fibres, Spinnova has partnered with Portugal based vertically integrated textile mill, Terafil in a yarn development cooperation agreement.
Under the agreement, Tearfil will operate Spinnova’s R&D yarn-spinning line at its facilities in Portugal, and undertake new product development activity on behalf of Spinnova.
The rationale behind the yarn-spinning line is for research and development using Spinnova’s fibre in commercial scale yarn production and to streamline development work with industry partners.
Switzerland based Rieter will provide the technology for Spinnova’s new spinning mill line, since Rieter has a significant contribution in yarn development for Spinnova blends and spinning with various techniques.
Spinnova will benefit from the extensive industry know-how of Terafil and also from the proximity of Europe’s most significant textile industry hub in Portugal and improve Spinnova’s access to global textile markets.
Spinnova’s yarn-spinning line will be operational by the end of the year and Spinnova will use a part of the line capacity for its product development.
