Textiles Ministry Offers 5% Higher Support To SAMARTH

The textiles ministry has empanelled 43 new implementing partners under the Scheme for Capacity Building in Textiles Sector (SAMARTH), with an additional training target of 75,000 beneficiaries and 5 percent increment in support to implementing partners.

Under SAMARTH, the government of India has partnered 157 textile industries, trade associations and various central and state government agencies, to undertake training programs

In a statement, the textiles ministry said the funding pattern has also been revised with an increment of 5 percent in cost norms, which will give much needed additional financial support to industries imparting skill under this scheme.

Out of the skilling target of 472,000 beneficiaries allocated so far, 188,000 beneficiaries have been provided training, out of which more than 85 percent of beneficiaries are women.

The statement added that more than 70 percent of the beneficiaries trained in the organised sector courses, have been provided placement.

SAMARTH is aimed at incentivising and supplementing the efforts of the industry in creating jobs in the organised textile and related sectors.

The scheme also caters to upskilling or re-skilling requirements of various traditional textile sectors like handicraft, handloom, jute and silk.
