Uzbek Textile & Apparel Exports Cross $1bn Mark In Jan-April

In the first four months of the ongoing year, textile and apparel exports crossed the US $1 billion mark and increased 1.4 percent over the same period of previous year.

Of total textile and garment exports, yarn accounted for 46.8 percent, while finished textile products accounted for 37.3 percent with 495 types of textile and clothing products exported to 55 countries.

Over the past seven years, Uzbekistan’s textile production has grown 4.2 times, with over 6,000 enterprises employing around 570,000 people.

“This growth is driven by investments and new technologies. In 2023, the sector’s production value reached $8.2 billion and exports totaled $3.1 billion,” Daryo reported.

The country has set a goal to produce $15 billion worth of textile and garment products and create 500,000 new jobs.

The Uzbek government has offered financial support which includes $50 million allocated in 2023 and an additional $100 million planned to be disbursed in 2024.
