Reifenhäuser Wins German Design Award For New Machine Interface

At K 2025 in Düsseldorf, the Reifenhäuser Group unveiled its new company-wide machine user interface, earning the prestigious German Design Award for its innovative and user-centric design. The interface features a unified design language across blown film, flat film and nonwoven lines, emphasizing simplicity and intuitive operation, an increasingly vital factor amid the global shortage of skilled workers.
Developed in collaboration with design agency HMI Project, the new human-machine interface (HMI) was created through a user-centred approach, analyzing real-life scenarios and validating functionality through usability testing. The result is a modular, scalable and flexible system that seamlessly integrates technical complexity with ease of use.
The interface enables operators to access any setting within two clicks, supported by customizable dashboards, a clear start-up page and an intelligent colour-coded, responsive touch system. These features enhance operational efficiency and process control.
Reifenhäuser showcased the new HMI at its open house during K 2025, installed on its latest EVO GEN3 and EVEREX blown and flat film lines.
The German Design Award, presented annually since 2012, recognizes outstanding achievements in product and communication design as well as architecture. Reifenhäuser’s win underscores its commitment to innovation, usability and design excellence in extrusion technology.
