Indian Army Secures IPR For Newly Designed Digital-Print Coat Combat

The Indian Army has secured Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for its newly developed Coat Combat (Digital Print), marking a significant milestone in modernising soldier gear. The new three-layered combat garment, designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, under a consultancy project overseen by the Army Design Bureau, integrates advanced technical textiles to enhance comfort, mobility and operational performance across varied terrains and climates.
The design has been officially registered with the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Kolkata, under Design Application No. 449667-001. The registration, dated 27 February 2025, was published in the Patent Office Journal on 7 October 2025, giving the Indian Army exclusive rights to the innovative digital-print combat coat.
