Atamfa Textile Expands Digital Retail To Bring African Fabrics To The World

Atamfa Textile Ltd, a leading African fabric company known for its heritage-rich Ankara and Atamfa textiles, has announced the expansion of its digital retail and distribution network, aiming to make authentic West African fabrics discoverable, shoppable and wearable globally.
The company has launched a dedicated ecommerce website, mobile apps on iOS and Android, and plans to introduce an AI-powered virtual fabric try-on experience later this year. The initiative combines technology with tradition, allowing customers to experience the cultural stories and craftsmanship behind each design.
Umar Abdulkadir Isa, CEO of Atamfa Textile Ltd, said, “African textiles communicate heritage, celebration, belonging and identity. Our mission is to preserve that value while opening African fashion to a wider audience using digital tools that meet customers where they are.”
Atamfa sources fabrics from West Africa, Turkey, Egypt, and other suppliers, offering over 100 categories of premium Ankara and Atamfa fabrics. The company is also expanding logistics, warehousing, and fulfillment to support cross-border deliveries to the UK, Europe, and select North American regions. Partnerships with global carriers ensure reliable, traceable shipments for international customers.
The upcoming virtual try-on system, powered by computer vision and generative AI, will allow users to preview fabrics on digital mannequins and personalized avatars, reducing uncertainty in online purchases.
Atamfa emphasizes that digital tools will complement traditional store markets, supporting tailors, designers and retailers with online sourcing, colour matching, design recommendations and inventory planning.
“Atamfa is building a modern fabric ecosystem that connects culture, commerce and creativity,” Isa added. “From dye specialists and tailors to diaspora customers, we want to support the entire value chain.”
The company is also launching partner programmes for designers, tailoring academies, boutique retailers and cultural events, with the first cohort expected in Q1 2026.
