Kelheim Fibres To Close By March 2026

Kelheim Fibres GmbH has announced that it will terminate business operations as of March 31, 2026, following an unsuccessful attempt to secure a strategic investor.
Despite restructuring efforts and support from many customers, the company was unable to secure sufficient orders to ensure an economically viable continuation. A key potential investor withdrew at short notice and a major customer did not commit to future orders, leaving continuation unfeasible.
The company will complete ongoing run-out production before initiating an orderly shutdown. Employees were informed of the decision on January 26, 2026, during a works meeting. A social plan has been agreed with the Works Council and self-administration, and a transfer company will be set up to assist employees in finding new employment.
“The self-administration explored all realistic options, but required commitments, including from a key customer, were not secured. Continuation is unfortunately not economically viable. Our priority now is an orderly wind-down and supporting our employees through the transition,” said the management of Kelheim Fibres.
