Barmag Launches FiberGuard BCF Tension Sensor

Barmag has introduced FiberGuard BCF, a new system designed for real-time monitoring and control of yarn tension across Neumag bulked continuous filament (BCF) production processes. The solution was showcased at ITMA Asia + CITME in Singapore last November.

The FiberGuard BCF system combines sensors and intelligent software to continuously measure yarn tension between the twisting and winding stages. By detecting deviations in real time, the system can automatically adjust the process, helping to improve process stability, enhance product quality, and reduce waste.

According to the company, the system is compatible with all current Neumag BCF machines and can also be retrofitted to existing Neumag BCF S8 machines, enabling producers to upgrade existing installations without major modifications.

Operators can monitor live data through the human-machine interface (HMI), set individual reporting thresholds and enable automatic adjustments. The system also allows the creation of customer-specific reference curves for yarn tension during the doffing process, offering greater control and process optimization.

Jan Pauer, Head of Service Products at Neumünster and responsible for the new system, said feedback from producers at ITMA Asia indicated strong interest in the solution. He noted that FiberGuard represents the next step in Neumag BCF processes, combining hardware and intelligent software to enable reliable yarn tension measurement and automated process adjustment.

The company expects the new system to support higher efficiency and sustainability in BCF yarn production by minimizing material waste and ensuring consistent operating conditions.
