FedEx To Invest Rs 2,500 Crore In Automated Cargo Hub At Navi Mumbai Airport

US-based logistics major FedEx on Wednesday announced an investment of over Rs 2,500 crore to establish a 300,000 sq ft fully automated cargo hub at the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The facility will be developed in partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) and is envisioned as a regional consolidation and redistribution hub. It is expected to strengthen trade connectivity across Southeast and West Asia, Europe and the United States, integrating global logistics networks into India’s key trade corridor.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held earlier in the day at the airport’s cargo terminal site in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis and senior leadership from FedEx and AAHL.

Designed with advanced automated sorting systems, dimensional scanning and high-speed screening technology, the hub will feature dedicated aircraft parking bays and enable simultaneous handling of inbound and outbound shipments. The infrastructure aims to improve routing flexibility and ensure faster, more predictable transit times, particularly for high-value and time-sensitive sectors such as electronics, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals and perishables.

FedEx, which handles around 17 million shipments daily and operates approximately 400 freighter services worldwide, already runs a technology hub in Hyderabad. The Navi Mumbai investment marks a significant long-term expansion of its India operations and reinforces its commitment to enhancing the country’s global trade logistics capabilities.
