CII Welcomes Extension Of RoDTEP Scheme And SEZ Relief Measures

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has welcomed the Government of India’s decision to extend the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme and introduce a one-time concessional framework for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) sales by Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units.

In a statement, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, highlighted that the move comes at a critical time when global trade uncertainty, evolving tariff measures and supply chain disruptions continue to challenge businesses, particularly MSME exporters.

CII noted that the extension of the RoDTEP scheme for all eligible export products until September 30, 2026, will help sustain export competitiveness. Maintaining existing rates and value caps is expected to support sectors grappling with rising costs and fluctuating global demand, while enabling exporters to explore new and emerging markets.

The industry body also underscored the importance of the one-time relief for SEZ units, which allows limited DTA sales at concessional duty rates. This measure is expected to provide greater operational flexibility in a period of subdued external demand, helping units improve capacity utilisation, strengthen liquidity and protect employment while maintaining their export focus.

CII emphasised that it has consistently engaged with the government on these issues, and described the latest measures as timely and targeted interventions to enhance industry resilience.

The organisation added that it will continue to collaborate with policymakers to provide industry feedback and support exporters in navigating the evolving global trade environment.
