CAI Raises 2025–26 Cotton Estimate To 324 Lakh Bales

The Cotton Association of India has raised its estimate of India’s cotton pressing for the 2025–26 season to 324 lakh bales (±3%), reflecting improved output projections across key producing regions.

The revised figure, finalised at a Crop Committee meeting held on April 10, 2026, marks an increase of 3.5 lakh bales from the earlier estimate of 320.5 lakh bales. The assessment is based on inputs from 11 state cotton associations along with broader trade feedback.

In standard terms, the updated estimate of 324 lakh bales (170 kg each) translates to around 340 lakh running bales of 162 kg, compared to the previous equivalent of 336.33 lakh running bales.

The revision captures notable regional shifts. While Gujarat’s output estimate has been lowered by 3 lakh bales, Maharashtra has recorded a sharp increase of 7 lakh bales. Madhya Pradesh saw a marginal decline of 0.5 lakh bales. These adjustments have resulted in a net upward revision in the overall production outlook.

The association indicated that it will continue tracking crop progress and market trends closely, with further revisions to be made in subsequent monthly updates if required.
