Amazon India, TEXPROCIL Join Hands To Boost Cotton Textile Exports

Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) at Bharat Tex 2026 to accelerate e-commerce exports from India’s cotton textile sector. The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, with the objective of helping cotton textile manufacturers and exporters expand their global presence through Amazon Global Selling.
Under the partnership, TEXPROCIL members will gain access to Amazon’s international marketplaces across the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Canada, Germany, Australia and several other countries. The collaboration will focus on exporter awareness, seller enablement, capacity building and cross-border e-commerce training, enabling Indian textile businesses to reach customers directly and build global brands.
India’s cotton textile industry, a major contributor to employment and exports, continues to witness strong international demand, particularly in home textile categories such as bedding, bath linen, kitchen linen and home furnishings. The joint programme will equip exporters with the knowledge and tools required to understand global demand, navigate international trade and scale their businesses through e-commerce.
Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, said e-commerce exports are emerging as one of the biggest growth opportunities for India’s textile industry.
“India’s cotton textile industry is globally recognised for its quality, craftsmanship and manufacturing capabilities. Through this collaboration with Amazon Global Selling, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge, tools and ecosystem support needed to capitalise on global e-commerce opportunities and accelerate their international growth.”
Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head, Amazon Global Selling, India, said India’s textile manufacturers produce world-class products with growing demand across global markets.
“Categories such as bedding, bath and home furnishings continue to see strong demand across Amazon’s international marketplaces. Through this collaboration with TEXPROCIL, we aim to help more exporters build global brands while advancing our commitment to enable US$80 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2030.”
As part of the MoU, Amazon and TEXPROCIL will organise online and offline awareness programmes, workshops and training sessions, while creating offline seller communities to encourage knowledge sharing and long-term business growth. The initiative will also include training for TEXPROCIL representatives and educational resources on cross-border e-commerce.
TEXPROCIL will identify high-potential exporters, facilitate connections between manufacturers and sellers, and extend Amazon Global Selling’s educational resources to its members. Both organisations will also explore opportunities for central and state policy support to further strengthen India’s e-commerce export ecosystem.
Amazon has already enabled over US$20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India and aims to facilitate US$80 billion in cumulative exports by 2030.
India’s textile sector continued its steady growth during FY2025-26, with total textile exports, including handicrafts, rising 2.1% to ₹3.16 lakh crore, underlining the country’s competitiveness in global markets. Representing nearly 2,000 companies across India’s major textile clusters, TEXPROCIL plays a key role in promoting India’s cotton textile exports worldwide.
