Woodspin And PUMA Sign Multi-Year Letter Of Intent For SPINNOVA Fibre

Woodspin Oy, the producer of sustainable SPINNOVA fibre, has signed a multi-year Letter of Intent (LOI) with global sports brand PUMA SE. This non-binding agreement secures access to wood-based SPINNOVA fibre volumes for several years, marking a significant step in sustainable material adoption within the sportswear industry.

Woodspin, a joint venture between Spinnova and Suzano, will supply SPINNOVA fibre to PUMA for developing future collections, with a focus on the sports style category. The collaboration aims to integrate innovative, eco-friendly materials into PUMA’s product lines.

“We are thrilled to announce this LOI with a global leader like PUMA,” said Shahriare Mahmood, Spinnova’s Chief Product and Sustainability Officer. “This is a pivotal moment for scaling SPINNOVA fibre and advancing our technology towards industrial adoption.”

Jari Aittakari, Sales Director at Woodspin, highlighted the impact of this partnership: “This collaboration showcases how renewable raw materials can transform the fashion industry, inspiring consumers to make more sustainable choices.”

PUMA’s Howard Williams, Director of Global Innovation for Apparel & Accessories, emphasized the importance of Spinnova’s technology, stating: “Spinnova’s fibre production process offers a groundbreaking approach to manmade cellulosic fibres by using water instead of chemicals, paving the way for a more sustainable future.”
