The Textile Association (India) (TAI), Mumbai Unit, will organise a one-day seminar on Future Trends in Technical Textiles on August 22, 2026, at Hotel Fortune Park Galaxy, Vapi, Gujarat.

The seminar will bring together industry leaders, technical experts, researchers and professionals to discuss the growth opportunities, emerging technologies and challenges shaping India’s technical textiles sector. Key areas of discussion will include geotextiles, agrotextiles, protective clothing, sports and construction textiles, medical textiles, composites, smart textiles and the latest developments in weaving preparatory machinery for technical textile applications.

A panel discussion on Future of Technical Textiles: Innovation, Sustainability & Market Readiness, will focus on emerging technologies, sustainable and circular manufacturing, market opportunities, scalability and industry-academia collaboration. The seminar will also examine government policies and incentives supporting the growth of technical textiles in India.

The event is expected to attract more than 200 delegates from the textile industry, academia, research institutions and allied sectors. Technical textiles have emerged as a key growth area for India, with applications spanning healthcare, defence, automotive, construction, agriculture, sports and environmental protection.

The discussions will also address challenges such as dependence on imported specialty fibres and machinery, limited R&D infrastructure and skill gaps. The organisers believe that greater focus on indigenous technology, innovation, sustainability and skilled manpower will be critical to strengthening India’s position in the global technical textiles market.

The seminar is being organised under the leadership of TAI Mumbai Unit President Rajiv Ranjan, Chairman V. C. Gupte, Seminar Advisor Dr. Gurudas Aras, Joint Convenor Prashant Mangukia and Convenor Haresh B. Parekh.
