AEPC Welcomes Newly Appointed Ministers Of Commerce & Industry, And Textiles

Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), extends his heartfelt congratulations to Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, and Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, on assuming charge of their respective ministries.

In welcoming the Commerce & Industry Minister, Chairman Sekhri expressed, “We are indeed fortunate to have a leader of such vision and dynamism at the helm. We wish him continued success in his tenure and are confident that under his leadership, the Commerce Ministry will provide the stability and continuity essential for navigating the complexities of global trade.”

Regarding the new Textiles Minister, Shri Sekhri remarked, “The AEPC team congratulates Hon’ble Minister Shri Giriraj Singh on his new role. With his extensive experience and visionary approach, we anticipate significant advancements in the textiles sector. I am confident that India’s ambitious goals for RMG exports will be achieved under his dynamic leadership.”

Chairman Sekhri also highlighted AEPC’s ambitious target of achieving $40 billion in exports by 2030. He underscored the council’s proposals to the government, including a revised production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for MMF fabrics, MMF garments, and Trims and embellishments with a reduced investment threshold to facilitate greater participation from smaller units. Additionally, he advocated for the extension of the Interest Equalization Scheme on Pre and Post Shipment rupee export credit for another two years. Chairman AEPC further emphasized the need for a suitable replacement for the ATUF Scheme, which expired on March 31, 2022.
