AI-Driven ‘among-all’ By Patricia Urquiola At Heimtextil 2026

Designer Patricia Urquiola introduces an entirely new spatial experience at Heimtextil 2026 with among-all, an installation that fuses artificial intelligence, material innovation and sustainable design. Presented in Hall 3.0, the concept allows visitors to shape the environment in real time, transforming their presence and movement into part of the exhibition.

Blending sustainable and traditional materials with cutting-edge technologies, among-all showcases futuristic spatial elements ranging from hybrid sculptures and inflated forms to suspended grid structures, all illustrating the interior design possibilities of tomorrow.

AI-driven Interaction
At the entrance, visitors pass through a 3D-printed portal developed by Caracol using its Heron AM robotic system and produced with ECONYL® chips by Aquafil. Inside, a large LED wall equipped with motion sensors uses AI to detect movement and morph visitors into hybrid forms, merging human presence with digital expression.

Material Innovation and Circular Design
Central to the installation is an exploration of textiles as transformative and intelligent materials. Urquiola demonstrates how craftsmanship, texture, technology and structure converge, positioning textiles as the interface between people, materials and machines.

A striking hybrid sculpture made from Ohoskin, an Italian textile material derived from orange by-products, introduces a sustainable, high-performance alternative to leather. Organic fields of colour and texture unfold across the floor in the form of carpets created from woven selvages and production remnants by 13RUGS from rohi. These woolen selvages also form two suspended grid structures, further emphasising circularity and responsible material use.

among-all builds on Urquiola’s previous installation among-us, expanding its themes with new elements while reimagining existing pieces. For instance, the ‘Giano’ upholstered sculpture now features a new ECONYL® yarn cover by cc-tapis. Digital concepts from the earlier installation evolve into tangible objects, underscoring the fluid boundary between the physical and virtual.

A Living, Responsive Environment
“I’m very happy to return to Heimtextil in 2026 with among-all, the second chapter of our ongoing exploration into textile thinking. This new landscape listens and responds, inviting visitors to gently activate the space through their presence,” says Patricia Urquiola.

As visitors move through the installation, they become active participants who alter the space itself, creating a unique and immersive design experience.

Insights from the Designer
Visitors can gain deeper insight into the creative process during the Architonic LIVE TALK with Patricia Urquiola. Guided tours will also be offered, providing context on the innovative materials, technologies and design principles behind among-all.
