Andhra Pradesh Commits To Promote Technical Textiles Sector
Andhra Pradesh Industry Minister Gudivada Amarnath said his government is committed to promoting technical textiles sector in the state.
Amarnath emphasised on the importance of technical textiles and welcomed prospective investors in the sector including foreign direct investment (FDI).
Amarnath was speaking at the National Conference on Technical Textiles titled ‘Advancing Policy Pathways in Technical Textiles’ held by the Ministry of Textiles.
The theme of the conference was formulating policies for the development of technical textiles at the national level.
The minister said that permissions will be granted through a single window system by providing concessions, which no other Indian state has offered for the development of the sector.
“There is no dearth of land required for setting up industries. We are ready to provide the necessary incentives for the development of the technical textiles sector in the state,” he added.
He said foreign investment is essential for industrial development and the Centre should be more flexible in this regard.
Amarnath also suggested to the central government that changes need to be made in export policies as well.
Rajiv Saxena, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, said the technical textiles sector will play a key role in the development of the country in the coming years.
According to Saxena, there is no dearth of funds for the development of the technical textile industry and that Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated just for R&D activities.
