Apparel Sector May Get Boost From PM Vishwakarma Yojna

The Indian garment sector may get a boost from the recently announced PM Vishwakarma Yojna as it offers several benefits, suitable for specific needs of skilled artisans working in the clothing industry.

The Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) welcomed the Vishwakarma Yojna and called it a momentous step that will bring immense promise to apparel industry and artisans.

The scheme is expected to empower artisans in the garment sector to enable them to improve the quality, scale, and reach of their products while seamlessly integrating into the MSME value chain.

The scheme also provides government support by way of loans of between rupees 1-2 lakhs, advanced skill training, expertise in modern digital techniques, and adopting eco-friendly green technologies.

“The scheme also emphasises promoting the brands of our skilled artisans, offering them greater visibility and recognition both locally and globally,” Dr A Sakthivel, Chairman, AMHSSC said.

By establishing robust linkages with local and global markets, artisans will gain access to a broader consumer base, thereby expanding market reach and potential.

“Recognising the immense potential of artisans in remote areas, the PM’s call to action encourages stakeholders to devise plans that unlock their abilities as suppliers and producers,” he added.

“It marks a significant stride toward a brighter future for all in the apparel industry, and we stand united with the government in celebrating this transformative endeavour,” he observed.

In conclusion Dr Sakthivel added that the scheme aligns perfectly with AMHSSC’s dedication to fostering growth, equity, and prosperity within the apparel sector.
