Australia Also Offers Duty Free Status To Bangla Garments Post LDC
Australia becomes the third country after the UK and Canada, which will continue to offer duty free status to Bangladeshi garment exports after the country graduates from its least developed country (LDC) status in 2026.
This assurance was provided by an official of the Australian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, during a recent visit of Bangladeshi apparel exporters to Australia.
During the visit, the apparel exporters hosted seminars and meetings with Australian clothing brands and retailers, in a bid to increase exports.
Bangladesh shipped readymade garments totalling to US $1.16 billion in the fiscal ending on June 30, 2023, which makes up for a small value of exports from the South Asian country.
