Bangladesh Clothing Exports Increase 13.93% In February 2024

Bangladesh exported apparels totaling to US $4.49 billion in February 2024, increasing by 13.93 percent over a year ago period and also recorded one of the highest figure for any single month.

In January 2024, garment exports had reached a record high for a single month and had amounted to $4.97 billion or close to $5 billion.

“During the first two months of the ongoing year, overseas shipments of clothing amounted to $9.47 billion, registering a year-on-year growth of 13.15 percent,” Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data said.

In the first eight months of fiscal 2023-24 ending June 30, 2024, garment exports touched $32.86 billion, growing at 4.77 percent over the comparable period of earlier fiscal.

“This is certainly a significant and inspiring turnaround for us, as the industry struggles to stay on course with challenges in both local and global fronts,” BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said in a statement.

“Looking ahead, 2024 presents a crucial opportunity for us to turn the tide and he was filled with immense confidence for the future of Bangladesh’s garment industry,” he added.
