Bangladesh Garment Exports Rise 13% in Q1FY’24

Bangladesh garment exports rose 13.07 percent year on year in the first fiscal quarter ending September 30, 2023 and totaled to US $11.61 billion.

Of overall apparel exports between July and September, knitwear shipments reached $6.76 billion, a rise of 19.70 percent year-over-year, while woven garment exports grew slower at $4.85 billion, up 4.97 percent.

For September 2023 alone, clothing exports amounted to $3.61 billion, up 14.46 percent when compared with $3.16 billion in September 2022.

However, garment exports in September 2023 declined month on month by $400 million as against that achieved in August 2023.

Bangladesh has been able to achieve positive growth, despite economies in Europe and North America not faring well and high inflation has led to limiting spending power of consumers in these markets.
