Bangladesh Seeks To Expand Apparel & Jute Exports To Russia

Jahangir Kabir Nanak, the Bangladeshi Textiles and Jute Minister said his government wants to expand exports of apparels and jute-made products to Russia.

“Russia can be a big export market for Bangladeshi garments as well as jute made products,” the minister said after a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander Mantytskiy.

While addressing journalists after the meeting, he called Russia a ‘tested friend’ of Bangladesh and added that Russia played a major role in the liberation of Bangladesh.

Nanak stated that his Ministry is putting stress on export of jute and jute-made products and that both discussed about arranging a buyer-seller meet between the two countries.

“Particularly, we want to import clothing, jute and leather products from Bangladesh,” the Russian ambassador also said.

He also told the journalists that he is hopeful that Russian investors would invest in the jute sector.
