BGMEA President Invites Indian Investments In MMF Sector

President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan invited investors from India and other Asian countries to explore opportunities in the manmade fibre industry.

Faruque Hassan said the Bangladesh textile industry does not produce enough manmade fibres like spandex, rayon, viscose, etc and there is also a shortfall of 60 percent in woven fabrics and 15 percent in knitted fabrics.

Faruque Hassan was speaking at the inaugural session of Intex South Asia Bangladesh, an international textile sourcing show held in Dhaka, where he also urged India to set up a Centre of Innovation like research facility.

“Government steps like allowing four more land ports to import cotton and yarn from India, will further promote trade between the two countries,” the BGMEA President added.
