Bharat Tex 2024 Will Highlight India’s Textile Sector Prowess: Rachna Shah
Bharat Tex, a mega event organized by the Consortium of Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and supported by the Ministry of Textiles, aimed to highlight the prowess of India’s textile sector. The event, unprecedented in scale and size, brought together stakeholders from across the textile value chain to depict the vision of Prime Minister, encapsulated in the 5F’s: fibre to fabric, factory, fashion and foreign exports, said Rachna Shah, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles.
With manufacturers, buyers, sourcing experts, policymakers and other key players in attendance, the event aimed to showcase India as a premier destination for sourcing and investment in textiles. Shah emphasized the significant initiatives undertaken by both the Central and state governments to create a conducive ecosystem and policy framework to attract more investments into the country.
India boasts a robust domestic market and a sizable export market, presenting ample opportunities for growth in the textile sector. Exhibitors at the event have expressed positive feedback, recognizing India’s strength across the entire value chain, from fabric sourcing to apparel production, including emerging areas like manmade fibres and technical textiles, said Shah.
An Innovation Zone highlighted ongoing research and development in technical textiles, shedding light on the strides being made in specialty fibre development and applications. Sustainability was a key focus, with efforts to promote circularity in textile production showcased both in the exhibition area and through knowledge dissemination.
The event also spotlighted the importance of textiles in empowering women, who constitute a significant portion of the workforce in the sector, with increasing representation in managerial positions. India’s soft power in fashion, recognized globally, was prominently featured, underscoring the country’s influence in shaping global trends, observed Shah.
