BRÜCKNER: Chinese Textile Trends Shift To Technical Fabrics and Functionalization

How was your overall experience at ITMA ASIA + CITME?
You may say, that ITMA ASIA this year was again a success for BRÜCKNER. Especially during the first three days, we counted a high amount of visitors. We have had a lot of fruitful and interesting discussions with well-known customers, but also with new interested parties. We feel that there are still a lot of new projects to come in the future.

What kind of positive developments did you see in the Chinese textile market?
We could see that the Chinese textile market is more and more focusing on high quality fabrics and technical textiles. Textile production companies for standard apparel or low cost fabrics are facing problems with a big lack of potential workers and increasing labour costs. In addition, most of the stocks are full and barring a few exceptions, the production capacity utilization is far below 100%. We do expect again a challenging year 2024 as long as the market for apparel textiles is not recovering.

What kind of trends and performance expectations do you anticipate for the textile industry in the near future?
As already mentioned, the trend is going towards technical fabrics and functionalization of textiles. Of course, energy efficiency is still a big topic and sustainability in general is on the top of the list. As finishing is one of the most energy-intensive process, this is quite a big challenge, but always the most important focus for us as a machine producer.
