CAI Projects Indian Cotton Crop At 311.18 Lakh Bales
Cotton Association of India (CAI) revised upwards, India’s cotton production at 311.18 lakh bales (1 bale=170 kg) for cotton year 2022-23 in its estimates arrived in June 2023.
In its estimates arrived at in May 2023, the trade body had estimated Indian cotton crop at 298.35 lakh bales.
Overall cotton supply for the current season is projected at 350.18 lakh bales, which includes 15 lakh imported bales, besides opening stock of 24 lakh bales of opening stock and the cotton crop of 311.18 lakh bales.
CAI projects the total domestic cotton demand at 311 lakh bales in the present cotton season, exports at 16 lakh bales, available surplus at 39.18 lakh bales, leaving a closing stock of 23.18 lakh bales.
