Cambodian Garment Exports Drop 18.98% Between Jan & Aug

In the period between January and August 2023, Cambodian garment exports dropped 18.98 percent compared to the same period in 2022, to $5.49 billion.

Of overall apparel shipments, exports of knitted garments totaled $3.63 billion in the first eight months of 2023, down 23.2 percent, compared to $4.5 billion earned for the same period last year.

“While exports of woven garments reached $1.6 billion in the period under review, again a fall of 14.4 percent as against $1.86 billion in the first eight months of 2022,” data from General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) informed.

Just like its other Asian competitors like China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, etc, the Cambodian garment export industry is suffering from the economic downturn in the US and the EU, which are its major markets.
