Centre Appoints New Joint Secretary And Textile Commissioner In Ministry Of Textiles

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved key senior-level appointments in the Ministry of Textiles, strengthening administrative leadership in the sector.
As per the government notification, Manisha Chatterjee has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, for a tenure of five years from the date she assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
In another significant appointment, Vrunda Manohar Desai has been appointed as Textile Commissioner, Mumbai, under the Ministry of Textiles. She will serve for an overall tenure of five years, up to April 12, 2027 or until further orders, succeeding Roop Rashi.
These appointments come at a crucial time as the Ministry of Textiles continues to focus on policy implementation, exports, sustainability initiatives and capacity expansion across India’s textile and apparel value chain.
