China Becomes Major Trading Partner For Over 160 Countries And Regions
China has emerged as a major trading partner for more than 160 countries and regions, with the country continuing to diversify its import sources to meet growing consumer demand, according to a senior customs official.
During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, covering 2026 to 2030, China will continue expanding imports while improving the efficiency of its trade and logistics systems.
Wang Jun, Deputy Head of the General Administration of Customs, said customs authorities would improve quarantine procedures for agricultural and food products, diversify import sources, streamline customs clearance and reduce logistics costs while maintaining safety standards, according to local media reports.
Citing durian imports as an example, Wang said China had approved imports from five countries since 2022, including Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos. China’s durian imports reached 1.87 million tonnes in 2025, double the volume recorded in 2022.
The customs authorities will also take steps to improve the shopping experience for international tourists, including further streamlining tax refund services for departing visitors.
