Circulose Targets Q4 Production Restart

Circulose has restarted its commercial-scale production plant at Ortviken plant in Sundsvall, marking a key step in scaling next-generation materials for the global fashion industry. The company plans to resume production of its recycled pulp made entirely from discarded cotton textiles in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Chief Executive Officer Jonatan Janmark said preparations are underway and new pulp is expected to roll out of the factory by the end of the year, ensuring continuity of supply.
Following its acquisition in 2024 by private equity firm Altor, Circulose refocused its strategy on securing volume commitments from partner brands to support a commercial restart. The company said commitments from 11 brands have enabled it to proceed with confidence and that strategic partnerships have been signed with Tangshan Sanyou, Aditya Birla Group and Jilin Chemical Fiber.
Orders are currently being fulfilled using inventory produced earlier by Renewcell prior to its bankruptcy.
Circulose said the restart of the Ortviken facility, the world’s first commercial-scale chemical textile recycling plant, will enable continued supply of recycled raw material at industrial scale, supporting efforts to divert textile waste from landfills and incineration and integrate recycled inputs into existing fiber supply chains.
