Climate Smart Agro-Textile Demonstration Centre Launched In Navsari
The Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with the Synthetic & Art Silk Mills’ Research Association (SASMIRA), has inaugurated the Climate Smart Agro-Textile Demonstration Centre. The centre, spanning 15,000 sq. metres, was launched in the presence of C.R. Patil, Minister of Jal Shakti, to promote sustainable and innovative farming solutions through agro-textiles.
Equipped with IoT-based monitoring systems, the centre offers live demonstrations of agro-textile technologies, including shade nets, medicinal nurseries, vermicomposting setups, ground covers, pond liners and crop covers. It aims to educate farmers on integrating these technologies to enhance crop productivity and conserve resources.
This initiative aligns with the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) and reinforces the ministry’s commitment to advancing India’s agriculture sector through technical textile innovations.
