DuPont Launches Bio-Circular Tyvek Coverall With 58% Lower Climate Impact

DuPont has introduced a more sustainable version of its flagship protective coverall, unveiling Tyvek 500 Xpert BioCircle, a disposable garment made using fabric attributed to 100% bio-circular feedstock, without compromising on protection or performance.
Designed for health and safety professionals, the new coverall delivers the same durability, comfort and barrier performance as the original Tyvek 500 Xpert, while significantly reducing its carbon footprint. The innovation supports circular economy principles by incorporating bio-circular materials derived from waste and biological residues such as used cooking oils and agricultural by-products, eliminating reliance on virgin fossil resources and avoiding competition with food production.
Ahead of the launch, DuPont commissioned an independent, third-party cradle-to-gate lifecycle assessment (LCA), which identified polymers used in Tyvek production as key contributors to climate impact. In response, the company adopted International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) procedures and transitioned to ISCC PLUS-certified feedstocks. The result: a minimum 58% reduction in climate change impact compared to the conventional product.
The high-density polyethylene (HDPE) used in the fabric is attributed to fully bio-circular feedstock through an ISCC-compliant mass balance approach. DuPont’s Luxembourg manufacturing facility, where the garment is produced, has been ISCC certified since 2023, ensuring traceability and transparency across the supply chain.
Tyvek 500 Xpert BioCircle offers chemical, biological and antistatic protection in a single, limited-use garment. It meets Category III Type 5-B and 6-B standards for chemical protective clothing and is certified to EN 14126 (barrier to infective agents), EN 1073-2 (radioactive contamination protection) and EN 1149-5 for antistatic performance. The ergonomic design includes an integrated hood compatible with respirators, elasticated wrists and ankles, stitched external seams, and breathable Tyvek fabric for enhanced wearer comfort and low inward leakage.
The new product can be identified by a teal-bordered chest label and ISCC PLUS packaging. Where appropriate recycling facilities exist, non-contaminated garments can be processed through the Tyvek protective apparel recycling referral programme.
With this launch, DuPont strengthens its push toward responsible protection, offering PPE that balances high-performance safety standards with measurable environmental gains.
